Hear from leading thinkers at next week’s Innovation Summit

From creating revolutionary inventions to rethinking educational models, Case Western Reserve has been a center of innovation for decades. Now, the university’s commitment to creative endeavors will be on full display as it hosts the Innovation Summit Oct. 26-28. More than 80 speakers from across specialties and sectors—entrepreneurs, business leaders, researchers, economic development professionals, policy makers and more—will explore the impact of various models of innovation, including how they contribute to regional economies, cultures and education. Speakers include:

Schedule at a Glance

The three-day summit starts Monday, Oct. 26, with a look at the processes and workflows that encourage innovation—first by sector, and then by region. Throughout the day, the work of students, staff and faculty—from startups to technology-enabled classrooms—will be on display at the Innovation Station exhibits, which open at 1 p.m. They’re in the spotlight again at 5 p.m. for the Innovation Station Happy Hour and Exhibits, an event at which Weatherhead School of Management’s Michael Goldberg will discuss global entrepreneurship. That night, the campus community is invited to join attendees for the Ford Biomedical Engineering Lecture at 6:30 p.m. to hear how translational research is transforming the future of human health. On Tuesday, speakers in 12 breakout sessions will cover key movements and market forces across the board—from health care to additive manufacturing, company funding and formation to models in law, and much more. That night, attendees will have the chance to explore the brand-new home of think[ box ], located in the Richey Mixon Building, during “Thinkapalooza: A Celebration of Innovation.” That event will feature an inventive farm-to-table menu by award-winning chef Jonathan Sawyer, the Cleveland restaurateur responsible for Greenhouse Tavern, Noodlecat and University Circle’s own Trentina. Plus, a replica Back to the Future DeLorean will be on display (and available for photo opportunities), and there will be music and art performances. Thinkapalooza runs from 6-8 p.m., followed by “Thinkapalooza After Dark,” which is open to the entire campus community at 8 p.m. for just $5. Finally, on Wednesday, Oct. 28, there will be hands-on sessions on everything from learning the vertical innovation process to practicing your pitch technique. Pricing and Event Details

Most events will take place at the Tinkham Veale University Center, with the exception of Thinkapalooza (held in the Richey Mixon Building) and the Innovation Station exhibits (held in Thwing Center). Registration still is open for the three-day event. Full registration is $475 to the general public. Discounted prices are available for members of the CWRU community: $125 for faculty and staff, and $75 for students. Tickets to Thinkapalooza After Dark (beginning at 8 p.m.) are $5.
