Hispanic Heritage Month: Talks by Melanie Domenech-Rodriguez

Melanie Domenech-Rodriguez, professor of psychology at Utah State University, will give lectures for the university community Monday, Oct. 2, as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. She will present “From Eggshells to Solid Ground: Skills to Navigate the Complexities of Truly Diverse Contexts” for faculty and staff from noon to 2 p.m. For students, she will give a lecture titled “Speaking Truth to Power: Skills to Navigate the Complexities of Truly Diverse Contexts” from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Both lectures will be held in Tinkham Veale University Center’s Senior Classroom. Food will be available at both events. ACES, La Alianza and Alianza Latina/Latino Alliance will sponsor these events.

About the speaker

Melanie Domenech-Rodriguez is a native Puerto Rican who earned her PhD from Colorado State University in Counseling Psychology. She has been awarded grants for research and to support underrepresented students’ academic advancement from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, National Institute on Drug Abuse and el Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología, México City. She also worked for the American Psychological Association’s Commission on Ethnic Minority Recruitment, Retention and Training Task Force.
