How can OMA help your student?

Your student's transition to college is a transition for your family, too.

During the first few weeks, your student may experience excitement, uncertainty, confidence, homesickness or all of these at once. These experiences are a normal part of becoming more independent.

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) helps students build community through programs, events, conversations, leadership opportunities and experiences that encourage connection, understanding, and engagement across the CWRU community. OMA provides students with opportunities to meet others, explore new perspectives, develop relationships, and discover communities where they can feel connected and supported.

Families can help by encouraging students to explore, build relationships, and seek support on their own. Ask open-ended questions, listen, and remind your student that reaching out and getting involved are important parts of the college experience.
