School of Law Dean Lawrence Mitchell will serve as a panelist at the public forum, “Patient Capital and Corporate Governance,” at The Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., March 14.
The forum will examine the importance of patient capital for economic growth, the cultural, strategic, policy, and governance forces that have led to a focus on short-term capital, and what needs to be done to shift the emphasis back to patient capital.
Other featured experts will include Sen. Byron Dorgan; Justice Jack Jacobs of the Delaware Supreme Court; and Judy Samuelson, executive director of the Business and Society Program at The Aspen Institute. Darrell West, vice president and director of governance studies at Brookings, will moderate the event.
This will be a public event with an audience of 125 people drawn from Capitol Hill, administrative agencies, the private sector, non-profit organizations, mass media and advocacy groups.
