Law School Love Stories

Susan Stevens Jaros (LAW ’73) & Stanley Jaros (LAW ’73)

Susan and Stanley met on the first day of school in 1970. Stanley saw her drive up in a red Firebird convertible with New York plates. She breezed in the doors wearing a tennis skirt, and he said to his friend, “I am going to marry her.”  And marry her he did.  Only one of eight women in her class, Susan jokes that he did not have much choice, but Stanley was smitten from day one!  A year after graduation, they were married on a snowy day in November, and more than five decades later, their story remains a testament to first impressions,  lasting love and how their lives changed forever at CWRU School of Law.

Every great love story has an origin moment, and for Judy Steiner and John Krajewski, it began in the halls of the CWRU School of Law. Judy was a first-year law student, still finding her footing, when she struck up a conversation with John, a confident and kind third-year student. Her opening line was purely academic: she wanted to learn more about CUSLI, the Canadian-U.S. Law Institute, a program that had caught her interest. John was happy to help, and the two quickly found themselves enjoying the conversation more than either expected. A simple question turned into a friendship and, before long, something much more. Their connection grew throughout Judy’s law school years, and in December 1986, while Judy was home on break from law school, the two were married.

Hannah and Robby met at Admitted Students Day in 2016 and started dating soon after. In 2017, Robby proposed under the bright marquee at Playhouse Square’s State Theatre, and by January 2019, they had traded snow for sunshine to get married in Key West, Florida. They now live in Lakewood, where they’re outnumbered by their 9-month-old son, Finnegan, and two dogs who have loyally supervised them since their student days.
