The legacy of the 5th Circuit: Past and present
NPR: Jonathan Entin, the David L. Brennan Professor Emeritus of Law, said the 5th Circuit court is “the most conservative” appellate court today, though historically it was a “bastion of civil rights liberalism.” He noted Eisenhower appointees often advanced desegregation rulings despite danger, showing that simply following the law once marked judges as liberal.
