The Washington Post: Max Mehlman, Distinguished University Professor and co-director of the Law-Medicine Center, said an ER bill arriving nearly two years late sounds “outrageous,” but whether it’s legal depends on state law, insurance policy terms and contracts between the hospital and insurer. Delayed billing can be permissible if providers and insurers were disputing payment in good faith.
