The Plain Dealer: In the case of Cleveland Police Officer Michael Brelo, charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting deaths of two people, the judge could consider a lesser-included charge of attempted voluntary manslaughter. Michael Benza, senior instructor of law, said a lesser charge offers prosecutors a second chance at a conviction if the judge concludes they failed to prove the primary charge.
