Oprah Daily (subscription required): Betul Hatipoglu, professor at the School of Medicine, noted that autoimmune diseases disproportionately affect women, often causing such symptoms as rashes, joint pain and brain fog before diagnosis. “The diagnosis can feel scary, like your body is at war with itself,” Hatipoglu said, adding that lupus—among other conditions—remains challenging to diagnose and treat.
