Origins Science Scholars Program: “Particle Detectors: Modern Cathedrals”

Cyrus Taylor, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and the Albert A. Michelson Professor in Physics, will lead the next Origins Science Scholars Program event. He will present “Particle Detectors: Modern Cathedrals” Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 5:30 p.m. at the Tinkham Veale University Center.

The detectors at modern particle accelerators are awe-inspiring masterpieces of engineering weighing thousands of tons and requiring the coordinated effort of thousands of scientists and engineers at hundreds of universities and laboratories around the world. How do they work, how are they designed, built and operated?
