Case Western Reserve University faculty, staff, postdocs and graduate students are invited to participate in upcoming The CWRU Gestalt Experience Weekend workshops.
These weekends offer a rare opportunity to step back from your day-to-day routines and focus on deepening interpersonal connections—both with others and yourself. Through guided discussions and activities, participants will explore how they communicate, how they relate, and how they can build more authentic relationships. It’s an experiential, hands-on approach that prioritizes the present moment and genuine engagement. The first six workshops (held in spring 2025, fall 2025 and spring 2026) were highly successful.
While the structure may feel unconventional—picture a group of individuals sharing their life experiences openly in a facilitated setting—it has the potential to be a powerfully transformative experience. Past participants have described these workshops as profound and deeply impactful.
Like the first six workshops, these will be facilitated by two highly experienced and exceptional facilitators from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland: Kathy Clegg and Rick Hancock. Both are teaching faculty of the Gestalt Institute, renowned for their clear explanations of Gestalt principles and their expertise in adapting to various audiences to facilitate meaningful, growth-oriented experiences. Kathy Clegg is also a psychiatrist at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Four workshops are scheduled for the 2026–27 academic year:

- Dec. 5–6
- March 13–14
- April 17–18
Each workshop spans a Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. Sessions will be held on campus at 11291 Euclid Ave. (the former Hillel Center).
There is no charge to attend, although space is limited so participants are asked to make a firm commitment to attend for the entire weekend/workshop. To register, email anthony.jack@case.edu.
A maximum of 12 participants per workshop (the ideal Gestalt group size is 8-12) can be accommodated. While workshops will predominantly be CWRU faculty, staff and graduate students, others will also be welcome in limited numbers. This event is funded by the Beamer-Schneider Professorship in Ethics as part of its "Ethics Table" tradition. Food and drinks will be provided during the day, but participants will be responsible for their own lunch.
