
- Police are often first social responders for a variety of human service issues;
- Officers carry no interventions to address social/interpersonal crises; and
- If properly trained, officers are ready, willing and able to assist citizens in finding help for their problems.
- 85 percent of the respondents indicated that the referral was helpful;
- 95 percent reported that the officer was respectful;
- 97 percent thought all police should be able to issue these types of referrals.
