“Precision Public Health: Using Health Information Technology to Improve Our Approach to Community Health Improvement”

Scott Frank will present “Precision Public Health: Using Health Information Technology to Improve Our Approach to Community Health Improvement” as part of the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods’ (PRCHN) monthly seminar series. The event will take place Wednesday, June 13, from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the BioEnterprise Building, Room B-03.

About the seminar

The changing ecology of health care requires strategic use of data, technology and innovation in order to succeed in an emerging health environment. Precision public health is one of three proposed branches of modern health care. It occurs above the skin and outside the walls of the health care system, focusing on health equity, social determinants of health, health-oriented approach, community-based intervention and place. This presentation will describe the spectrum of precision medicine, precision population heath and precision public health and their integration for community health improvement through the Public Health Triple Aim.

About the speaker

Scott Frank is a public-health and family-medicine educator, researcher and practitioner. He is the founding director of the Master of Public Health Program at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and held that role for 18 years until 2017. Frank also served as director of health for the City of Shaker Heights from 1994 to 2017. He is now director of public-health initiatives in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences and co-director of the Health Data Matters program. He is involved in research and teaching domains including social justice, public-health services and systems, public-health information technology, adolescent health, tobacco control, mental health, substance-abuse prevention, public health and medicine and assessment of stress.
