Cleveland researchers use experimental nerve 'bridge' to restore breathing in rats with spinal cord injuries
The Plain Dealer: Jerry Silver, professor in the Department of Neurosciences at the School of Medicine, led a research project that restored normal or near-normal breathing in nine of 11 test animals that had suffered spinal cord damage. “Our work is one of the most convincing demonstrations [to date] of the return of robust function” after paralysis, Silver said.
