With so many innovative alumni, students, faculty and staff in the Case Western Reserve University community, lectures and interactive conversations have become a main tenant of Homecoming and Reunion Weekend, giving participants the chance to see what’s going on around campus. Some of this weekend’s many lectures include:

Calling All Entrepreneurs

Oct. 7, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tinkham Veale University Center Senior Classroom Case Western Reserve University’s student entrepreneurs will present their ideas to a panel of industry leaders for evaluation.

Big Data Analytics

Oct. 9, 10-11:30 a.m. George S. Dively Building The Weatherhead School of Management will bring together thought leaders to teach attendees how to make sense of customer behavior, to create a marketing strategy and to manage relationships. Panelists are:

• Rakesh Niraj, associate professor of design and innovation;
• Ali Ahmed (MGT ’08), senior manager at Workplace Resources – Cisco Systems Inc.; and
• Gerald Daher, president and board chair of Speedeon Data Corp.

Dean’s Distinguished Lecture

Oct. 9, 4-5 p.m. Iris & Bert L. Wolstein Research Building The School of Medicine will offer the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture, featuring David Satcher (MED ’70, GRS ’70). Satcher will give his take on the prescription for a healthy lifestyle, including physical activity, nutrition, avoidance of toxins and managing stress.

Can Nutrition Reverse Cardiovascular Disease - Fact or Fiction?

Oct. 10, 10:30 a.m.-noon Iris & Bert L. Wolstein Research Building Those interested in health maintenance also can attend a discussion on nutrition and cardiovascular disease, presented by the School of Medicine.

University Circle Past, Present and Future

Oct. 10, 1­­–2 p.m. Tinkham Veale University Center Senior Classroom In this College of Arts and Sciences event, learn about the rich history of University Circle, Cleveland’s educational and cultural jewel, from John Grabowski, the Krieger-Mueller Associate Professor in Applied History at CWRU and historian and senior vice president for research and publications at the Western Reserve Historical Society. Hear about current initiatives and exciting plans for the University Circle of today and tomorrow from Chris Ronayne, president of University Circle Inc.
