As founder and president of the Eleos Association, recent CWRU pre-med undergraduate Reda Riffi has led regional programs and secured international funding to uplift children through nutrition, education, health advocacy, mentoring and cross-cultural dialogue. Riffi’s work has helped advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in Vrygrond, one of the most underserved communities in South Africa.
In recognition of Riffi’s efforts, he was recently awarded the Nourish Nelson Mandela Prize for Excellence in Equity, Inclusion and Global Compassionate Service by Nourish Educare Centre in South Africa. The award honors Riffi’s service, inclusive leadership and lasting social impact.
Riffi seeks to expand his organization’s reach and recently visited Dubai where he forged a collaboration with Sheikh Mohammed Al Baloushi, an esteemed leader from Dubai and senior advisor from the Office of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates. The meeting fulfilled a commitment Riffi made as a recipient of the CWRU Dream Fund Award and is a step toward expanding health equity initiatives for U.S. students overseas.
