Register for “UNIV401: College Teaching Preparation”
Case Western Reserve University graduate students and postdoctoral scholars interested in developing their teaching skills are invited to enroll in the summer “UNIV401: College Teaching Preparation” course.
Administered by the University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education (UCITE), this course aims to provide participants with innovative, effective and evidence-based teaching strategies that can be used as they transition into faculty positions in higher education.
Topics that will be covered in the course include:
- Course design (including Universal Design for Learning);
- Assessing student learning;
- Active learning; and
- Writing a statement of teaching philosophy.
This eight-week seminar will take place on Tuesdays during the summer semester, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Participants will be expected to attend all classes, read assigned literature, complete a weekly journal response, and participate fully in all discussions.
