Lawrence Douglas
The School of Law will host a guest lecture by Amherst College Professor Lawrence Douglas, whose book, The Right Wrong Man: John Demjanjuk & the Last Great Nazi War Crimes Trial, was recently published by Princeton University Press.
The lecture, held Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in School of Law, Room A59, will review the case of former Cleveland-area resident John Demjanjuk.
The Ukrainian-born Demjanjuk was convicted in 2011 in Germany as an accessory to about 28,000 murders as a guard at the Sobibor concentration camp in Nazi-occupied Poland during World War II. The verdict was appealed. Demjanjuk was 91 when he died in a nursing home in Germany before the appeal process was completed. Douglas attended the Demjanjuk trial in Germany and covered it for a magazine. He is considered an expert on the case.
This event is free and open to the public.
