Case Western Reserve University's Social Justice Institute, the Environmental Health Watch and the Rid-All Green Partnership will come together again to host the“Race, Food & Justice Conference 2014: Analyzing the Urban Food Movement through a Social Justice Lens.”The two-day conference will be held at Case Western Reserve and University Circle United Methodist Church April 4-5.The conference will include discussion groups facilitated by returning guest who were keynotes in 2013. Local experts and community leaders will be paired with the returning guests.
This year's keynote speakers are Monica White, assistant professor of environmental justice at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; Dara Cooper, director of New York City Food and Fitness Partnership; and Jonathan Ferrer of the United Puerto Rican Organization of Sunset Park. Ohio Rep. Armond Budish is scheduled to speak briefly prior to the event. The HUE People, a national a capella singing group, will open the conference prior to the welcome and introductions.
