Seeking research participants to evaluate a sleep program for family caregivers
A research team led by Dr. Elliane Irani at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing is currently recruiting family caregivers to see if a sleep health program can improve their sleep and well-being.
Eligible volunteers must:
- Be 18 years of age or older,
- Have been caring for an adult family member or friend for more than 6 months, and
- Live with the care recipient.
If you meet these criteria, please consider reaching out to the research team to learn more about the study. You can contact us via phone at 216-368-6214 or via email at familycaregiverstudy@case.edu.
If you qualify and agree to participate, you will be in the study for 14 weeks and will attend 2 study visits. At the end of Visit 1, participants are assigned to one of two study groups. Participants in the control group will receive a summary of their sleep assessment and the caregiving and sleep resource packet at the end of the study period. Participants in the intervention group will participate in 4 sessions and two telephone calls. The sessions will take place every other week via Zoom and will last approximately 45 minutes. The telephone calls will take place every other week and will last 15 minutes each.
Regardless of your group assignment, you will be asked to attend two study visits.
Visit 1 will take place in-person at a convenient location and will last approximately 60 minutes. You will complete a survey about yourself and your health. We will also ask you to wear a wrist device that looks like a watch to track your sleep. You will wear the watch and complete a morning diary for 7 days.
Visit 2 will be scheduled at the end of the study period and will take place remotely. We will send you a link via email to complete the survey online, which takes approximately 30 minutes, or you can choose to join a Zoom meeting to answer the survey questions. You will be also asked to wear the sleep watch and complete a morning diary for 7 days.
Participants will receive compensation for their time.
If you are not eligible to participate but know someone who might be, please feel free to share this information.
