EVENTS | February 8, 2018
STORY BY: EDITORIAL STAFF
Virtuoso trombonist Greg Ingles and his band of six trombone players from Boston University will join Case Western Reserve University’s Baroque Ensembles in a collaboration exploring the music for multiple instrumental choirs by Giovanni Gabrieli, Francesco Cavalli, and Antonio Bertali, to name a few. This may be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to hear Gabrieli’s Canzona with 22 separate parts in five choirs—a true surround-sound experience. This performance, called “Shimmering Sonorities from San Marco: 17th century Italian music for trombones and strings,” will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, at 4 p.m. in Harkness Chapel.
