Kelvin Smith Library is giving university community members the chance to showcase their artistic inspiration, creativity, imagination and skill, as related to STEM visuals and imagery.
The library’s second annual Art of STEM Competition, held in conjunction with the national “STEM to STEAM” movement, encourages the integration of art and design with science, technology, engineering and mathematics to spur creativity and innovation.
The competition is open to Case Western Reserve University faculty, students and staff, Cleveland Institute of Art students who collaborate with a member of the CWRU community and any Northeast Ohio high school student.
Contestants are encouraged to submit the following types of images for entry into the competition:
- Images created by machines in a lab
- Science-related hand-drawn images
- Photographs from nature, scientific phenomena or people at work on a science-related project
- Computer-generated or digitally enhanced scientific images
- Any other type of STEM-related image presented as art
- First Place: $350
- Second Place: $200
- Third Place: $100
- Two high school submissions will be chosen and awarded $50.
