“Social Entrepreneurship: When Social Mission and Market Forces Meet”

Learn more about Northeast Ohio’s most successful social entrepreneurships from the people who founded them at a Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences “lunch-and-learn” panel discussion. This session, titled "Social Entrepreneurship: When Social Mission and Market Forces Meet,” will be held Thursday, March 23, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Community Studies Center, Room 108. The panel will feature:

• Brandon Chrostowski, president and CEO of EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute;
• Mansfield Frazier, executive director of Neighborhood Solutions Inc.;
• Bryan Mauk (MNO ’10), director of social enterprise at Lutheran Metropolitan Ministries; and
• Sharie Renee, Case Western Reserve MNO student and executive director of the Cosmic Bobbins Foundation.

They will explore how organizations that work for social betterment have changed substantially and how—with more nonprofits pursuing earned income and more for-profits pursuing social outcomes—the lines have blurred between 501(c)3s and some businesses. This event is free and open to all. A light lunch will be provided. Registration is available online. This is the second of three events in the 2017 Strategies in Social Investment spring speaker series hosted by the Master of Nonprofit Organizations program with support from the Gail and Elliott Schlang Philanthropic Fund (a donor-advised fund of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland). It also is part of the Mandel School Centennial Speaker Series.
