Spartan Challenge entrepreneurship competition offers more than $20,000 in prizes

Undergraduate students are invited to participate in the 2016 Spartan Challenge entrepreneurship competition, which offers more than $20,000 in prizes. The contest consists of two stages:

• The Business Concept Stage, where teams of students develop an executive summary with the basic information about their concept and an elevator pitch.
• The Business Planning and Mentorship Stage, where six finalists are paired with business leaders, entrepreneurs and experts to help them refine their concept.

Experts will mentor students throughout the challenge. The top three teams from the Business Planning and Mentorship stage will be awarded funding ($10,000, $5,000 or $2,500) to begin implementation of their business concepts. Joyce Erony (WRC ’81), managing director at Signet Healthcare Partners, will present an information session Monday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m. in Nord Hall, Room 410. Complimentary lunch will be served at the session. Teams interested in applying should register and submit a “letter of intent” to Professor Colin Drummond at colin.drummond@case.edu by Saturday, Jan. 16, at midnight. Past participants have included the students behind Greenlite Technologies, Triple Analytics, FGC Plasma Solutions and more successful startups.
