The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, in conjunction with the Judaic Studies Program, is sponsoring a lecture by Harel Max, an Israeli visual artist, Friday, Nov. 10, from 12:45 to 2 p.m. in Clark Hall, Room 206.

Max will explore the relationship between borders (political, bodily and conceptual) and performance art in Israel from the 1970s to the present. The artist will discuss his own work and how it is shaped by the complex political realities of everyday life in Jerusalem.
About the speaker
Max is an Israeli visual artist working in the mediums of performance art and video art. He recently graduated from the Musrara School of Art and Society in Jerusalem, where he focused on sound, performance and video art. His work has been shown in The Museum for Islamic Art in Jerusalem as well as in festivals and galleries around Israel.
