Return to Think By Numbers, the 2012-2013 Annual Report

- A legacy of success among graduates. More than 40 percent of each class enrolls directly in graduate or professional school, with a comparably large proportion beginning careers (with a median salary range between $50,000 and $55,000). Others enter the military, join family businesses or pursue other options. In 2011, just 7 percent still were “available for employment” six months after graduating.
- Students’ profound intellectual curiosity regarding a broad range of disciplines, and the ability to pursue multiple academic interests in deep and comprehensive ways.
- A setting that includes some of the world’s most prominent cultural organizations—including the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland Orchestra—as well as Uptown, a vibrant new residential-retail development. Students also benefit from Cleveland’s “big-league” attractions, including professional sports teams, Playhouse Square and an increasingly dynamic downtown area.
- An emphasis on experiential learning, which includes classes that with hands-on lessons and off-campus field work—as well as extensive opportunities to pursue original research in laboratories, hospitals and other real-world settings. The university also offers extracurricular programs that develop leadership, civic engagement and more.
- The SAGES program, which allows students to develop exceptional verbal and written communication skills over a carefully constructed series of seminars.
