In recognition of her outstanding achievements and dedication to women’s leadership, Professor Diana Bilimoria will accept the ACE Ohio Women’s Network’s 2012 Excellence in Higher Education Leadership Award today.
The ACE Ohio Women's Network is composed of women administrators, faculty and staff in higher education who are dedicated to the professional advancement of women. This award is the network’s highest external honor, recognizing a woman leader who has made significant contributions to higher education in Ohio.
Bilimoria, the KeyBank Professor and a professor of organizational behavior in the Weatherhead School of Management, will receive the award at the network’s annual meeting Nov. 2 at Franklin University.
Bilimoria’s research focuses on the gendered climate of organizations, women’s leadership, ways in which women can achieve success and the transformation of organizations to achieve gender, racial and ethnic equity. Her recent book, Gender Equity in Science and Engineering: Advancing Change in Higher Education, describes the factors needed to eliminate barriers to women faculty’s academic advancement.
“Dr. Bilimoria’s energy and commitment to creating an equitable, transparent, accountable and inclusive environment in academia have been transformative at our institution and have now impacted a cadre of research universities in northern Ohio,” Deputy Provost Lynn Singer wrote in a letter nominating Bilimoria for the award.
