Political meddling may harm the economy in the long term

Washington Examiner: Jonathan Ernest, assistant professor at Weatherhead School of Management, warned that increasing political pressure on the Federal Reserve—such as calls for firings or investigations—could threaten its independence. While short-term economic boosts from lower interest rates are possible, he cautioned that long-term damage to the economy is a serious risk.
