Get to know residential communities and traditions

The Office of Residence Life is excited to welcome you to Case Western Reserve University this fall. Your residence hall will be one of the first places where you build connections, learn about campus resources and begin creating your own CWRU experience.

Our residential communities are designed to support you as you transition to college life. Whether you're learning your way around campus, adjusting to new academic expectations, meeting other students or figuring out daily routines, you'll have people and resources available to help along the way.

Our goal is to set you up to build a strong foundation for success, both academically and personally. First-year students live in one of our First-Year Experience communities: Cedar Magnolia (often called CedarMag), Juniper, Mistletoe or Clarke Tower. When you arrive in August, you'll meet members of the Residence Life team, including Residential Community Directors and Resident Assistants (RAs), who are here to answer questions, provide support and connect you with opportunities across campus.

Throughout the year, your RA will plan programs and activities designed to allow students to learn, connect and have fun. You'll also have opportunities to participate in campus traditions such as Late Night Breakfast and Snow Place Like Home. These events are open to all residential students and provide a welcoming way to meet others and experience life at CWRU.

Remember, there is no single way to be part of a residential community. Some students enjoy attending many events, while others prefer smaller gatherings or getting involved gradually. However you choose to engage, Residence Life is here for you to find connections, discover resources and feel at home at CWRU.
