To help you make the most of it, we have compiled advice from current students and orientation leaders to share tips, insights and little-known gems about what to expect.
“Discover Week is such a fun time to learn more about the campus and the community that you'll be stepping into. Embrace the new atmosphere, be awkward when meeting fellow first-years and absolutely gorge on all the free food. It's OK to feel overwhelmed and nervous. Everyone is coming from all over, and it's a brand new environment for each and everyone of you. Lean on the people that you hold dear and try and not forget to call them during your first week.” —Ellie
“Keep a positive attitude throughout the week. It can be easy to skip programs when you're feeling low on energy, but you can always count on your orientation leaders to hype you up. You truly do get what you put in.” —Ashley
“The best way to navigate Discover Week is to download the app that includes the schedule! You can see all of the required meetings with orientation groups, as well as plenty of fun events that are happening throughout the week.” —Dolsey
“Be prepared: Get plenty of sleep, wear closed toe shoes, bring a water bottle and have an open mindset. This is a new experience for everyone, so be open to new experiences, people and environments. Participate in as many events as possible, especially Casino Night, but it's OK to take a break.” —Briaden
