Optional: Earn credit for CWRU courses with proficiency exams | First-year, transfer & exchange students

Proficiency examinations allow highly prepared students in various subjects to earn credit for a Case Western Reserve University course by passing an examination for that course. These examinations are optional, but for students who pass proficiency exams, credit will be indicated on their CWRU transcript with a PR grade. No letter grade is given, and proficiency credit does not count toward GPA calculations. Proficiency credit may be used to satisfy major requirements.
