Your Fall 2025 arrival

Plan to arrive in Madrid before Sunday, August 31. Students (and families, if applicable) should plan to arrive at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas International Airport (MAD). Remember that you must depart the United States a day prior to your intended date of arrival in Spain (i.e. depart the United States on August 29 to arrive in Madrid in the morning of August 30).

Airport pickup

Case Western Reserve University staff will meet students who opt into an airport pickup at two designated locations on Saturday, August 30. Airport pickup times will be determined at a later date.

  1. Terminal 1 (T1): Outside of passport control after checked-in luggage is collected. Times TBD.
  2. Terminal 4 (T4): Outside of passport control after checked-in luggage is collected. Times TBD.

Students should look for a "Case Western Reserve University" sign. They will also be able to contact CWRU staff via WhatsApp for questions and concerns.

Hotel suggestions

As a major global city, Madrid has a plethora of hotels for students and families who are planning to arrive prior to the residence hall move-in days of August 31 and September 1.

Case Western Reserve recommends families stay in Madrid rather than Getafe, as there are more options and things to do. Getafe is located about 40 minutes south of central Madrid via light rail.
