Academic and cultural pre-departure education is required of all CWRU students studying abroad at an overseas program, and so you will see some worksheets and activities in your Study Abroad portal under the task “Pre-Departure Academic and Cultural Education Uploads.”
One of the activities is to complete the Cultural Dimensions Test from IDR Labs and upload a screenshot of your results. This test is based on Cultural Dimensions Theory, developed by Geert Hofstede, which is a framework used to understand the differences in culture across countries. This test will give you your scores on six cultural dimensions (power distance, individualism, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance, orientation and restraint) and match you with the country that has the culture most similar to your answers.
