Incoming new student loan instructions

We can’t wait to welcome you to Case Western Reserve University and want to offer you some information on options to use federal or private loans if you will be financing part of your education. If you choose to borrow, please complete these processes by the end of July to ensure that you are prepared for the upcoming academic year.

To determine the amount of loan you may need to borrow for the 2025-2026 academic year, subtract any grant, scholarship and other outside resources you have received from the estimated billable expenses (tuition, housing and meal plan, fees, matriculation fee). Once you’ve decided how much you or your parents/guardians will borrow, follow the loan checklist and make sure that you are completing your loan information for the 2025-2026 academic year.

The Office of Student Financial Services, which bills and collects tuition payments, will send a separate email each term to students only, notifying them of the actual direct charges and the due date for each term of enrollment. Parents/guardians will only receive a copy of this information if they are signed up by the student as an Authorized User. These notices should occur for Fall 2025 around July 18, 2025.

If you later decide to make changes to any loan information you’ve already completed, please email your requested changes to the Office of External Loans at faloans@case.edu from your CWRU email address (abc123@case.edu).

If you followed the instructions and your loan(s) are not disbursed by the end of the day on August 25, please let us know at faloans@case.edu or +1 216.368.6153.
