Parents and families: Learn more about the Parent and Family Orientation experience

If you are planning to join your student in August for the in-person orientation programming (Discover Week), we do have programs designed just for you. Take a look at the overview below. More specific information will be provided later in the summer.

Saturday, August 15 or Sunday, August 16

This is a day to focus on helping your student move into their residence hall room. There will be opportunities to connect with some offices during the day, but we really want you to be able to spend time with your student, run any necessary errands and get them settled in. Information will be shared with your student’s housing assignment and move-in time on July 14.

Additionally on Sunday, August 16, there will be programming for families. Details on how to register will be shared via email in the coming weeks.

Monday, August 17

9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern: Information Fair and Educational Sessions

Parents and families will follow a schedule according to their student’s small group number*, allowing them to attend the Information Fair with their student, and attend educational sessions while their student engages in activities with the orientation leaders.

*Students receive their small group number when they check-in for Discover Week in August.

Information Fair

If you have questions about campus services, come find the office at the fair and talk one-on-one with a representative.

Educational sessions

Attend sessions from various campus departments including Academic Support Resources for Students, Experiential Education, Safety and Student Conduct, Student Affairs, Financial Aid, University Health and Counseling Services, and many more. A detailed schedule and descriptions will be available later in July.
