Senior Vice President, Chief of Staff and Strategic Advisor to the President
Katie Brancato joined Case Western Reserve in 2014 as Director of Presidential Communications. She has held the role of Chief of Staff since 2017 and became Senior Vice President, Chief of Staff and Strategic Advisor to the President in January 2025. In this role, she works directly with the president to develop and implement administrative and strategic priorities of Case Western Reserve University and she serves as an ambassador and representative of the Office of the President with internal and external constituencies as well as the university’s Board of Trustees. Additionally, she leads the Office of Government Relations and the Office of Local Government and Community Relations and oversee University Marketing and Communications.
Previously, Katie served as freelance writer and project manager, director and chief of Staff of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, and managed climate programs within the Office of Global Programs at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and at the National Science Foundation.
Katie earned her BA in International Politics from Penn State University and her master’s degree in Latin American Studies from The George Washington University.
