About the Program

Earn your Juris Doctor (JD) from anywhere with Case Western Reserve University School of Law’s part-time, online JD program.  As one of only a handful of ABA-accredited programs that allow you to complete 100% of your coursework remotely, our program offers the flexibility you may need to pursue a career in law. 

If you wish to build in-person connections, we also offer optional, in-person residency experiences at a manageable pace so you can maintain your career while pursuing your JD. Our emphasis on experiential learning produces graduates who are well-prepared to adapt to the rapidly changing legal profession, equipping you to work as a lawyer in private practice, for government organizations, at corporations and beyond. 
 

What to Expect

Case Western Reserve’s part-time, online JD program requires successful completion of 88 credit hours (44 in specified required courses); at least two credit hours in the writing of a substantial research paper; at least 12 credit hours of experiential learning experiences (including a required capstone experience completed during your final year); and at least 34 credit hours of electives.

Beyond the Classroom

Remote students pursuing an online JD will have opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities including certain law journals and Moot Court and Mock Trial teams. And, students will still have options for hands-on experiences with nearby or remote externship opportunities.
