About the Program

With eight top-ranking specialties, our JD program equips you for the evolving practice of law. Here, our renowned faculty will help you develop your leadership and interpersonal skills while honing your legal and research savvy. To best prepare you for your career, we emphasize experiential, practical training in all three years of the program. And, you'll be at the forefront of developments in the law at Case Western Reserve School of Law, recognized as one of the top 12 law schools for innovation (National Jurist).

What to Expect

Starting in your first semester—and continuing throughout your three years—you'll gain hands-on, professional experience. In collaboration with our renowned faculty, you'll work directly with clients, conduct research and prepare briefs for court cases.

In our Milton A. Kramer Law Clinic Center, for example, you can gain real-world experience in various areas of law, such as health, civil rights and human rights, immigration, IP, human trafficking and more.

Our Career Development Office will help support you from your first year through graduation. From interview prep to job postings and recruitment events, you’ll have the resources you need to launch a successful legal career. You’ll also have access to our comprehensive bar support program, ensuring you have what you need to pass the exam. In the summer before the exam, you'll attend workshops on time management and study planning, guaranteeing that you stay supported every step of the way.
