About the Program

Prepare to engage in the fields of medical research and management with a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University. Offered jointly through our Weatherhead School of Management and School of Medicine, our program uses cross-disciplinary collaboration to help you adapt to the changing healthcare environment and create positive, sustainable change for organizations. And, when you graduate, you’ll have countless job opportunities available at the intersection of translational science and business in hospitals, universities, food institutes, drug recovery centers or government offices.

What to Expect

Across three years in our 75-credit-hour dual-degree program, you'll simultaneously develop expertise in biochemistry and business, allowing you to bring a unique perspective to your studies.

You’ll begin in the management school and complete the first-year MBA curriculum—through which you'll develop your core business skills—and then pursue the biochemistry degree before returning for your final MBA year.

As a result of participating in the dual-degree program, you’ll complete nine fewer credit hours of biochemistry coursework than you would if you were in the MS program alone. Those nine hours will be fulfilled by completing management courses, which will then be transferred toward completion of the MS degree.

Beyond the Classroom

It’s our top priority to make sure you have access to all the resources and support you need to succeed. All MBA/MS in Biochemistry students meet twice a year in a colloquium retreat to:

  1. Ensure the programs meet student and faculty expectations;
  2. Capture the benefits of the interdisciplinary experience;
  3. Socialize the dual-degree students as a group; and
  4. Explore the intellectual and professional challenges of doing interdisciplinary work.

In addition to this, you will be partnered with an experienced student to address questions you may have about the program and life as a graduate student at CWRU.
