About the Program

While hospitals are most known for administering care, at their core they are businesses—and, to that end, need professionals with expertise in business and healthcare in order to operate efficiently. With a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Medical Physiology from Case Western Reserve University, you’ll gain the expertise you need to make an impact in the sector.

In our five-semester dual-degree program, you’ll enhance your hiring potential  as you pursue either a clinical or administrative curricular track. By the end of your studies, you’ll know how to speak the language of management while communicating with both medical and non-medical colleagues, skills you can use to help healthcare systems reach their full potential.

Graduates from our program go on to pursue careers in healthcare consultation, hospital administration, hospital operations, and pharmaceutical project management—or continue their education in medical, osteopathic or dental school.

What to Expect

Our dual-degree program is a collaboration between Weatherhead School of Management and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, the #1 private medical school in Ohio and top-16 in the U.S. (U.S. News & World Report).

You’ll begin your studies by taking classes at the School of Medicine before transitioning to business courses in your second year. The idea of switching from a lab coat to a business suit might feel intimidating—but you’ll fit right in. Our faculty will make this transition seamless, and you’ll be studying alongside students from diverse backgrounds and industries, fully preparing you to succeed in today’s workplace.

Whether you choose to complete our program in just over two years (five semesters) or on a longer timeframe, your training in medical physiology, translational physiology, corporate finance, business analytics and economics will prepare you for career success.

Completing our dual-degree program saves you 19 hours of coursework you would be required to complete if you obtained both degrees separately.
