About the Program

Earn a credential from one of the top research universities in the country with a Certificate in Quantitative Finance from Case Western Reserve University. Offered through Weatherhead School of Management, our program will help you advance your career as you improve your skills in financial consulting, investment management research, portfolio management and investment banking.

You’ll also be prepared for the sought-after Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification—and come away from our program positioned to pursue a career as a financial manager, financial analyst, portfolio manager or consultant.

What to Expect

Our flexible program offers two levels of certification—Level 1 and Level 2 (advanced)—which you can earn by taking one to three courses per semester.

To earn the Level 1 certificate, you’ll complete three of the following courses:

  • Financial Management
  • Derivatives and Risk Management
  • Financial Modeling
  • Empirical Finance

For an advanced certificate, you’ll select the remaining course from the Level 1 set of courses, plus two from a more advanced set:

  • Fixed-income Markets and Their Derivatives
  • Quantitative Risk Modeling
  • Financial Analytics and Banking
  • Blockchains and AI

Regardless of which certificate track you pursue, your credits will be stackable toward our Master of Finance degree if you decide to continue your studies.

As an added benefit, you can participate in our seminar speaker series to gain exposure to leading experts in the finance industry, as well as our academic speaker series to learn about new developments in finance. You may also join our trek experiences to visit financial firms in major cities throughout the country, or for corporate visits.
