Mandel School faculty to present at County's Aging and Disability Summit

Two Mandel School faculty members are presenting at the Aging and Disability Summit 2023 on Sept. 29. The event is presented by the Cuyahoga County Division of Senior and Adult Services, in partnership with The MetroHealth System and the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging.

  • Ralph S. and Dorothy P. Schmitt Professor of Social Work and Professor of Sociology Aloen L. Townsend is delivering a presentation entitled "Ohio's Family Caregivers: Who Are They? What Challenges Are They Facing? How Can We Support Them?". Her objectives are to identify key characteristics of family caregivers in Ohio, discuss some of the most pressing challenges facing Ohio's family caregivers and identify state and federal initiatives to support Ohio's family caregivers.
  • Associate Professor Ann W. Nguyen's presentation is "Psychosocial Determinants of Health and Aging among Black Americans." My presentation identifies psychological and social factors that influence health equity among Black adults.
