Your Academic Inquiry Seminar and registration for spring

If you didn’t take your Academic Inquiry Seminar this fall, you will take it this spring. You will see a hold in your spring schedule for a three-credit course: “AIQS 851S.” That is to remind you that you need to keep room in your schedule for three credits.

As you might recall, you completed your AIQS self-selection item on your roadmap over the summer, choosing the environment in which you thought you would best develop as a writer: topical, foundations or non-native speakers of English AIQSs. You will receive an email in early November to remind you of your selection from the summer.

If you chose “topical” during self-selection, you will receive an email on the first day of registration, prompting you to click on a link that will take you to the topics that are available to you. Be sure to register for your other classes in SIS first. Then, you will select several preferred topics from those available in your weekly schedule, and the Writing Program will enroll you in one of them.

If you chose “foundations” during self-selection, you will be enrolled in a section that fits into your weekly schedule after you have registered for all of your other classes.

If you are enrolled in an Academic Inquiry Seminar (AIQS 100, AIQS 110, or AIQS 120) this fall, you will have completed your requirement at the end of the semester, and can consider taking a Communication-Intensive Seminar or other general education requirement in the spring.
