Therapy dogs return to Kelvin Smith Library
Visit with therapy dogs on Oct. 14, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on the library’s first floor. Therapy dogs are specially certified animals trained to provide affection, comfort and support.
If you’re unable to attend on Oct. 14, don’t worry! Therapy dogs will visit KSL throughout the semester.
SLOW MATTERS: Intersecting Food & Fields
Stop by for a talk, exhibit and refreshments in Kelvin Smith Library on Oct. 15, at 3 p.m. in the Freedman Center Collaboration Commons. The talk will feature Mary Holmes, chapter leader of Slow Food Cleveland and lecturer at CWRU, with opening remarks from Hope Barkoukis, chair of the Department of Nutrition and Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Professor of Wellness and Preventive Care.
This event also features an opening reception for the exhibit, “SLOW MATTERS: Intersecting Food & Fields” in the KSL Art Gallery. Curated by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, this exhibit showcases slow food activities at CWRU and the many connected fields and academic disciplines.
Curator talk and exhibit: The Cleveland Salon
Join Kelvin Smith Library and Dr. Lawrence Waldman, Cleveland art historian, for an opening reception, refreshments and talk on the special collections exhibit, "The Cleveland Salon 1920-1924" on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m.
The exhibit and talk will feature works from painter William Sommer, poet Hart Crane, architect William Lescaze and theater designer Richard Rychtarik, showing how these artists influenced each other and their impact on national and international style.
