Apply to be an undergraduate research ambassador

The Undergraduate Research Office (URO) is accepting applications for the URO spring semester ambassador program. Undergraduate research ambassadors work with the URO to promote undergraduate research and assist in providing educational and engagement programming. The ambassadors represent various academic research fields.

What do ambassadors do?

  • Promote undergraduate research with brief scheduled announcements or information sessions in classrooms or for departments on campus. Ambassadors are required to complete four in-person activities per semester.
  • Work with other ambassadors to develop an informal gathering or program of choice centered on undergraduate research.
  • Present at least one, “All About Finding Research” information session.

Additional expectations:

  • Attend one ambassador training program
  • Attend monthly check-ins
  • Maintain a record of participation

Eligibility:

  • One summer research experience or two semesters of research at the college level is the minimum requirement. Ambassadors do not have to have been funded by the URO.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude regarding undergraduate research and CWRU.
  • Be in good academic standing and have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Be passionate about sharing personal research experiences in-person and virtually.

Benefits:

  • Receive $200 with required participation per semester.
  • Development of oral presentations, leadership, listening and advising skills, and more.

Application requirements: 

  • One reference.
  • A resume with your undergraduate research experience(s), including date of experience, faculty mentor's name, lab department and university/institution name.  
  • An essay (maximum 400 words) addressing the following:
    • An overview of one research experience, including your faculty mentor's name, date of experience and summer program name (if applicable).
    • What interests you about becoming an Undergraduate Research Ambassador
    • What ideas you have for promoting undergraduate research
    • What your main connection is to the URO. For example, what events, information sessions or funding opportunities have you participated in or are you aware of?
