Each year, the finance department holds an award ceremony to recognize its outstanding students in the categories of leadership and academic excellence. This year, student Yuxin Fan received the Student Leadership Award and Yanyu Jin was named an Outstanding Student in Finance.
Faculty members within the department come together to choose the recipient of the Outstanding Student in Finance award, which is given to a graduating student who exhibits academic excellence within the Master of Finance program.
"Yanyu has a 4.0 GPA. He is an active participant in class. His work is thorough. He is mature, inquisitive, proactive, and a joy to have in the classroom. Very engaging and very responsible,” said Peter Ritchken, professor of banking and finance.”
The Student Leadership Award is peer-nominated and is awarded to a student who serves as a leader and role model for all students. The recipient also promotes the Master of Finance program and the Weatherhead image in a positive way, contributes to the total community and stimulates the classroom experience.
Yuxin is recognized for his involvement as a teaching and research assistant, GBSA board member and community volunteer at the Greater Cleveland Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
