Year graduated from Weatherhead: December 2021
Degree: Master of Business Administration
What are you up to?
I am a senior advisor II at The Chartis Group within the informatics and technology (I&T) practice. I interned at The Chartis Group in the summer of 2021 as an MBA intern and joined full time in January 2022. Within the I&T practice I have recently aligned to the digital architecture group in the hopes to aid and consult clients on type of products, such as digital front door, hospital at home, etc.
Additionally, I have become interested in digital health, IT strategy, and health care private equity consulting engagements.
How did you find this job?
I first found out about The Chartis Group after Maggie Smith, the prior director of employer development within Weatherhead, shared information with me on the health care consulting firm. She also provided a sign up for upcoming coffee chats with CWRU alumni at The Chartis Group, which helped me learn about the company and its culture, what kind of work they do, and how they make an impact in health care overall.
After learning more during the coffee chat, I applied to the I&T summer internship via Handshake. Ahead of the behavioral and case interview process, I worked closely with Maggie and Mindy Kannard to do mock case interviews, which helped me be more than prepared!
What is something you learned during your time at Weatherhead that you’ve been able to use in your current role?
While at Weatherhead, my interest in continuous improvement/Lean Six Sigma and health care economics was sparked. The topics of continuous improvement and health care economics are central to my understanding of health care as a whole and have provided me with a strong context no matter the type of consulting engagement I am on. Also, during the first year of the MBA program, each MBA student is assigned to a team of four or five to work on most assignments with. This format allowed me to strengthen my group work muscle for when I entered into my career.
What advice would you offer to any current MBA students at Weatherhead?
Take a wide range/diverse set of electives! You'll never know when a topic from an elective you took will creep up in your career or even just in conversation. Try to take full advantage of the electives that Weatherhead has to offer to open your horizons.
What do you love most about Weatherhead?
Getting involved in student leadership opportunities, such as the Weatherhead Healthcare Club, was one of the most rewarding experiences I had at Weatherhead. I love the community that Weatherhead/CWRU has to offer not only among students, but also with faculty. I am so grateful for all the friendships I made along the way!
