Weatherhead School of Management announced today that the school will offer two new finance certificates beginning this fall: a Quantitative Finance Certificate and a Financial Management Certificate.

The new, flexible certificates are designed for both current graduate students and working professionals. All courses will be offered in the afternoon, evenings or online and will give students the choice to complete one, two or up to three courses per semester. Students will also have the option to complete Level 2 of the certificate upon completion of Level 1.

The certificates are “stackable” toward the Master of Finance program, meaning students who complete both certificates can apply these credit hours toward the full degree program at Weatherhead, so long as the full 30 credit hours for the degree it is completed within six years of the start of the certificate.

“With the challenges and opportunities in the current workplace and economy, the popularity of certificate programs are undoubtedly on the rise,” said Gregory Jonas, senior associate dean of academics and graduate programs. “Our new certificate programs will give students and working professionals the chance to build new skill sets, stand out among peers and open doors for growth, and students will learn from the same world-renowned faculty who teach in our full programs at Weatherhead.”

The Quantitative Finance Certificate is ideal for students looking to gain strong analytics skills in the finance industry, specifically in financial consulting, investment management research, portfolio management and investment banking.  The courses will also train students for the sought-after Financial Risk Management (FRM) certification.

Students completing the Financial Management Certificate will advance their careers and update skills in making decisions regarding investing, financing and capital management. The courses will prepare students for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification.
