Meet Margaux Johnstone, who is currently working with xLab as a teaching assistant, after taking xLab as a course in a previous semester. She is a third-year student with a medical anthropology and international studies major and has a background in social entrepreneurship and market research.
How did you become involved with xLab?
xLab was recruiting anthropologists for an ethnographic research project with LG, and I was surprised and intrigued that the business school and a tech company was recruiting anthropologists—so I decided to apply!
What do you like most about working with xLab?
Working with xLab gives me a new appreciation for the collective intelligence and creativity of a team. My teammates always bring fresh ideas to our meetings, often ideas I hadn't considered. It keeps my creativity flowing and challenges my assumptions.
What do you like about being a CWRU student?
I love that at CWRU I can work on business and technology at xLab while studying anthropology and international studies. I value the opportunity to integrate diverse fields and perspectives, which enriches both the projects I work on and my own experience.
What do you plan to do after graduation?
I plan to do CWRU’s IGS Masters in Bioethics program and then work abroad.
What are some of your other hobbies and interests?
The ethics of international development and international business is really interesting to me! Quite a challenge to tackle.
