Ischemic strokes are frequently caused by emboli. Emboli have a propensity to lodge in certain areas. In the right internal carotid artery (ICA) angiogram shown above [centered where the distal internal carotid artery bifurcates into the middle cerebral artery (MCA) and anterior cerebral artery (ACA)], the most common locations for emboli in the anterior circulation are shown. AComm = anterior communicating artery.
